We all expect a certain amount of jostling when we choose a career in politics. We know there is an ugly side to politics but we don't we expect to subjected to campaigns of terror and abuse for doing our job. Mayor and councillor of Galway Mike Cubbard and his family have endured an 18 month campaign of abuse and harassment has suffered. Threats have been made to his and his family to burn down his home. Why was the abuse allowed to be continued for so long before it was taken seriously. It is now under investigation with the Garda. It is unacceptable for politicians or any one and the perpetrators must be brought to justice, including online abuse for the sake of future generations.
