Online safety and Media Regulation

Updated: Mar 21, 2022

This bill has been in the works for some time and it will bring drastic changes which will affect everyone in broadcasting and everyone in the country.

There will be a levy paid to the Commission from Netflix, Hulu, Prime Video, Disney Plus (the companies that make the content we all want to watch), and others like radio stations and social media companies for the privilege of being regulated.

Part 2 of the bill addresses online safety. Age-appropriate online content is a big concern and I am happy it is being included in the bill as children have so much unrestricted access to the internet these days sometimes for hours on end with harmful effects. It's not up to the media commission to protect our children, it's up to parents to restrict access and protect our children.
